Trump Criticizes Media and Supports Kimmel’s Suspension Amid Controversy

Donald Trump has weighed in on the controversy surrounding the suspension of Jimmy Kimmel Live! by ABC, following comments made by Kimmel that sparked outrage. Kimmel’s remarks about Trump, his supporters, and political figure Charlie Kirk led to the network pulling the show indefinitely. Trump’s response has been vocal and contentious, as he expressed his thoughts about the media and its treatment of him.

Trump, speaking to reporters aboard Air Force One, said, “I have read someplace that the networks were 97 percent against me, again, 97 percent negative, and yet I won and easily, all seven swing states [in last year’s election]. They give me only bad publicity, press. I mean, they’re getting a license. I would think maybe their license should be taken away.”

This bold comment has stirred up reactions from the public, with some criticizing Trump’s suggestion of revoking media licenses. One person tweeted, “97% of networks are against you then I wonder who’s the problem,” while others questioned whether this amounted to government censorship, with concerns raised about the First Amendment.

While Trump’s comments have caused a stir, not everyone has supported ABC’s decision. Several public figures, including Ben Stiller, David Letterman, and Jimmy Fallon, have expressed their concerns about the suspension of Kimmel’s show. Fallon, in particular, defended Kimmel, calling him “a decent, funny and loving guy,” and expressed hope for his return.

As the debate continues, Trump’s comments underscore the tension between the media, political figures, and freedom of speech, highlighting the polarized climate surrounding entertainment and politics in the U.S.
