The tragic case surrounding the assassination of Charlie Kirk has taken a disturbing turn, with the suspect, 22-year-old Tyler Robison, now in custody. Robison is accused of fatally shooting Kirk on September 10 during an event at Utah Valley University.
At a press conference held on September 12, Utah Governor Spencer Cox confirmed the breakthrough in the case, revealing that Robison was apprehended after a family member contacted authorities. According to Cox, Robison had confessed or implied his involvement to a family friend, which led to the tip-off to law enforcement.

In the days leading up to the shooting, Robison allegedly expressed strong disdain for Kirk and his political views. A conversation with a family member reportedly included statements like “Kirk was full of hate and spreading hate.” Investigators also found disturbing messages on Robison’s Discord account, including one that indicated he had prepared for the attack by retrieving a rifle, engraving bullets, and changing outfits.
Further investigation revealed unsettling details about the bullets used in the shooting. Authorities recovered several unfired casings, and three of them were found to have disturbing inscriptions, including “Hey fascist! Catch!”, “o bella ciao, bella ciao” (a phrase associated with anti-fascist resistance), and a crude message “if you read this you are gay lmao.”
Governor Cox expressed gratitude to law enforcement, the FBI, and the public for their assistance in locating Robison, and extended his condolences to the family of Charlie Kirk, who have been through an incredibly difficult time. The investigation continues as authorities work to piece together the full extent of the tragedy.
