People Divided Over Whether This Controversial Act Counts as Cheating

In today’s digital age, the lines of fidelity are being tested, and a new form of relationship betrayal has sparked intense debate. The question is: Does subscribing to an OnlyFans (OFs) creator count as cheating?

The debate was reignited after a young woman from Perth, Australia, ended her relationship when she discovered that her boyfriend had secretly subscribed to an OFs creator. For 20-year-old Maddi Miller, an OFs creator herself, the act felt like a clear betrayal, akin to cheating, and she is not alone in this belief.

Miller, who earns around $30,000 a month from her work, holds strong personal boundaries, despite being part of the industry. She explained that while the content itself wasn’t the issue, the secrecy surrounding it was. “Trust is so important, which is why I had to end it with an ex after I caught him looking at naked photos of other women while in bed with me,” she said in an interview with News.com.au.

Miller emphasized that if her ex had approached the topic openly—perhaps suggesting watching the content together—she could have had a conversation about it. However, the fact that he was secretly subscribing to creators she knew felt like a huge breach of trust. For her, it was a clear act of betrayal.

The discovery was made when Miller noticed activity on her boyfriend’s phone. Despite his initial denial, her investigation revealed multiple subscriptions to creators, some of whom she personally knew. The revelation was shocking and deeply hurtful, leaving lasting effects on her ability to trust in future relationships.

A recent survey conducted by News.com.au revealed that a significant number of Australians believe subscribing to explicit content on platforms like OnlyFans constitutes cheating. Among the 54,000 respondents, 61.3% of women agreed it was definitely cheating, while only 46.1% of men felt it depended on the interaction.

Lucy Banks, content creator and founder of Million Billion Media, falls in the camp of those who believe it depends on the nature of the interaction. “Society and relationships have evolved… the level of transparency, emotional intelligence, and communication required to maintain a healthy relationship is now much higher,” she explained. “Is it cheating if your partner subscribes to someone on OFs? It really depends on the relationship.”

As the debate continues, it’s clear that the definition of cheating in the digital era is more complex than ever. For some, a digital subscription to adult content may feel like a betrayal of trust, while others may see it as an innocent curiosity or harmless form of entertainment. It all comes down to boundaries, communication, and the expectations of each individual relationship.
