FBI Releases Photo of ‘Person of Interest’ in Charlie Kirk Assassination Case

The FBI has released images of a person of interest in connection with the tragic assassination of Charlie Kirk, a prominent US activist and founder of Turning Point USA. The 31-year-old was fatally shot on September 10 while speaking at an event at Utah Valley University in Orem, Utah.

The FBI Salt Lake City office shared two images on X (formerly Twitter), seeking the public’s help in identifying the individual in connection with Kirk’s murder. The suspect is believed to have taken the shot from a nearby rooftop, wearing dark clothing at the time of the shooting. The shooter’s identity remains unknown, and as of the latest updates, no arrests have been made.

In a statement shared alongside the images, the FBI urged anyone with information to contact the agency via 1-800-CALL-FBI.

Details of the Incident

At the time of the shooting, Kirk was addressing a crowd during a debate at Utah Valley University. He was rushed to the hospital after being struck by a single shot but succumbed to his injuries shortly after. The incident has sparked national outrage, with tributes pouring in from both political figures and celebrities.

Utah authorities have been actively investigating the shooting. Beau Mason, the Utah Department of Public Safety Commissioner, announced on September 11 that authorities have obtained “good video” footage of the shooter. Mason stated that investigators were working to identify the individual but emphasized they were confident in their abilities to proceed with the case.

The FBI further added that the shooter appeared to be of college age and theorized that they may have fled the scene by blending in with the campus crowd. The weapon used in the attack, a high-powered, bolt-action rifle, was later discovered in a wooded area near where the shooter reportedly fled. The FBI is now analyzing the firearm as part of the investigation.
