A Day That Should Have Been Joyful
Eighteen-year-old Hudson Koch was set to graduate high school on Saturday, May 10, 2025. But that same morning, authorities discovered that his father, Jeremy Koch, had allegedly taken the lives of Hudson, his 16-year-old brother Asher, and their mother Bailey Koch, before turning the weapon on himself.
All four victims were found in their Johnson Lake home, suffering from fatal knife wounds, according to the Nebraska State Patrol.
Warning Signs Ignored?
Jeremy Koch’s mental health history wasn’t a secret. His wife Bailey had spoken openly on social media about multiple suicide attempts, dating back to 2009. On May 3, just a week before the killings, she shared how she had once woken to her husband standing over her with a knife — a chilling foreshadowing of what was to come.
Bailey and Jeremy had created a support page called Anchoring Hope to raise awareness for mental health struggles, revealing the tragic irony of their fate.
In one emotional post, Bailey pleaded:
“Mental illness is taking my husband from me, and I’m begging you to open your eyes and see the reality that is this society’s mental health crisis.”
