Father fatally beat man who followed his daughter into restroom

The incident involving Melvin Harris, a Phoenix father who fatally beat a man, has sparked widespread attention and debate. On August 2, 2018, Harris was at a convenience store with his daughter when she reported that a man, Leon Armstrong, attempted to enter her locked bathroom stall. Harris confronted Armstrong, and the situation escalated when Harris punched him in the face, knocking him down. Harris continued to beat Armstrong, stomping on him before leaving the scene.

Armstrong sustained severe brain injuries from the attack and passed away a few days later. Harris was initially charged with second-degree murder but later pleaded guilty to manslaughter. He was sentenced to eight years in prison for the fatal beating.
