Bindi Irwin’s Emergency Surgery Sparks Emotional Update: “Time to Heal Now”

Wildlife warrior and beloved daughter of the late Steve Irwin, Bindi Irwin, is on the mend after undergoing an emergency appendectomy — and her recent update has fans both relieved and deeply moved.

A Sudden Health Crisis in the U.S.

Bindi, 26, had just arrived in Las Vegas to attend the annual Steve Irwin Gala when sudden, severe abdominal pain landed her in the hospital. Doctors diagnosed a ruptured appendix, prompting emergency surgery.

But that wasn’t all. While operating, surgeons discovered 14 new lesions from endometriosis, as well as a hernia caused by childbirth — all of which were addressed during the procedure.

“After many months of a grumbly appendix, I finally had to seek help,” Bindi wrote on Instagram.
“My appendix was removed, along with another 14 lesions… I also had a repair to a large hernia I acquired through childbirth.”

A Painful Journey Toward Answers

Bindi has spoken candidly in the past about her ten-year struggle with undiagnosed pain, which was eventually identified as endometriosis — a condition that affects millions but is still underdiagnosed and misunderstood.

“People must have thought I was flaky. I was in so much pain all the time,” she previously shared.
“Endometriosis is an enormous problem… and it’s not talked about enough.”

Praise for Her Support Team

Bindi expressed deep gratitude to Dr. Tamer Seckin and Dr. Chu at Lenox Hill Hospital, and called her surgery a “success.” She also thanked her brother Robert Irwin, who stepped up to host the Las Vegas gala in her absence.

“Rest assured, I’ll see you at the next Steve Irwin Gala in Brisbane this November. Time to heal now.”

Robert added in a heartfelt statement,

“Out of all the things we were ready for… that was not one of them. But she’s going to be okay.”
