A Tragic Sequence of Events

On April 25, 2024, Dakota fled his foster home and sought refuge at a neighbor’s house, pleading to be adopted and expressing that his foster parents were physically abusive. The neighbor did not observe any visible injuries but was alarmed by the boy’s plea. Shortly after, Wilson retrieved Dakota and brought him back home. According to court documents, upon returning, Dakota threw himself on the ground, and Wilson responded by sitting on his midsection while on the phone with his caseworker. Despite Dakota’s screams, Wilson remained seated, later claiming she thought he was “faking.” When she finally moved, she noticed his eyelids had turned pale and attempted CPR before calling 911. Dakota was airlifted to a hospital but was declared dead two days later. (New York Post, FOX 2 Detroit, People.com)
