Zabu, due to irresponsible inbreeding common in the white tiger trade, had a genetic flaw giving her a permanent “smile” as her upper lip couldn’t cover her teeth. An Impossible Choice
There was one major problem. Cameron, driven by natural lion instincts, became extremely possessive and aggressive towards keepers whenever Zabu went into heat, even after he received a vasectomy. His behavior became dangerous. The sanctuary faced a heartbreaking dilemma: separate the devoted pair forever to ensure safety, or take a drastic step – neuter Cameron.
