Move along, and grab the crabs! While on a trip to a faraway Australian island, these families talk about their exciting journey.

Friends and family of Amy Luetich sleep out on Christmas Island in the Indian Ocean. They had all planned a great trip to an island in another country, but they didn’t expect some surprise guests to ruin their plans. People were having a BBQ when all of a sudden a group of coconut crabs showed up and ruined the fun.

It was very clear that the arthropods’ goal was to steal and eat anything they could find. They are, however, known as aggressive crabs, so you wouldn’t expect anything else from them. Dozens of crabs chose to ruin Luetich and her friends’ picnic because they could smell the food.

The woman told The Dodo, “We lit a fire in our camp, and when we started cooking, the smell of food brought a lot of crabs that were looking for food.” “They were all over the place while we were trying to eat dinner!”

The number my son found was 52. Then one of them climbed up on the table, and the other one climbed up on the grill. One family did not have the same luck as us when they moved their tents away from where they ate.

The biggest crust on Earth is a coconut crab. They can grow up to 3 feet long and weigh more than 8 pounds. They live for more than fifty years. The largest group of aggressive crabs in the world lives on Christmas Island.

Parks Australia says that Christmas Island is home to the biggest and safest group of these gentle giants, who can live for more than 50 years. “You can find them all over the island. During the day, they stay put and only come out at night or on cloudy days.”
