Winnie, a sweet and slightly socially awkward dog, enjoys walks, playtime, and cuddles at home. But when it comes to over-the-top displays of affection, she has always preferred her personal space.
A New Companion Arrives
A few months ago, Winnie’s family welcomed a new puppy into the home: Buck, a bouncy, affectionate pup with little sense of boundaries.
“He’ll kiss anyone he comes into contact with — humans, animals, and even inanimate objects,” said their mom, Em McClure. “He just wants everyone and everything to feel the love.”
For Winnie, Buck’s enthusiasm was a lot to adjust to.
Learning to Adapt
While Winnie enjoys cuddles and occasional licks, Buck’s sloppy smooches were a whole new level. At first, she would tense up, showing her discomfort with subtle signs — but never once snapped or growled.
“We believe she has accepted, and even enjoys, his affectionate behavior. It’s their thing,” McClure said.
Over time, Winnie began to roll with Buck’s affection, and the two found a rhythm that works for them.
The Evening Routine
As the day winds down, Buck tires out first. That’s when Winnie takes the lead, inviting him to cuddle. Their dynamic flips depending on who has the energy, creating a loving balance between the two pups.
“We know, and can see, that she’s obsessed with her little buddy,” McClure said.

A Lesson in Love Languages
Despite their differing personalities and approaches to affection, Winnie and Buck have formed a strong bond.
“I think the lesson Winnie and Buck teach us, as humans, is that although love languages can look and feel different, the bond and love for each other remains strong,” McClure noted.
In the end, the duo proves that accepting differences and embracing love in all its forms is what truly matters.
