Couple Drops Everything After Finding Five Fluffy Siblings Left To Die In Parking Lot

For over 40 years, The Rabbit Haven has rescued abandoned bunnies across California. But even for this seasoned rescue, one recent call stood out — a discovery so heartbreaking it stopped a couple in their tracks.

A Shocking Discovery in a Parking Lot

Ricky and Colette were going about their day when something unusual caught their attention: five tiny lop-eared bunnies huddled tightly together on the ground of a busy parking lot.

“They were so afraid, they just stayed huddled together,” The Rabbit Haven later wrote on Facebook.

The couple quickly realized the truth — these fragile babies had been abandoned and left to die. With cars rushing by and no protection from the elements, their chances of survival were slim.

Without hesitation, Ricky and Colette scooped up the frightened siblings, took them home, and called The Rabbit Haven for immediate help.

Rescued and Safe at Last

When the rescue team welcomed the bunnies — later named Robin, Rhona, Reeses, Roy, and Reayah — they were struck by both relief and sorrow.

“What a sad situation. How cruel to leave defenseless babies out in the dirt in the hot sun,” The Rabbit Haven wrote. “Looks like they just pulled off the freeway and dumped them.”

It’s impossible to know exactly how long the bunnies had been abandoned, but one thing was certain: thanks to Ricky and Colette’s quick action, they’d never be alone again.

Thriving With Care

Once settled into the rescue, the baby lops quickly began to adjust to their new environment. They learned to use the litter box, discovered the joy of constant hay and fresh vegetables, and soaked up the affection of their new caregivers.

“They are all very sweet,” The Rabbit Haven shared. “They are so happy to have a constant supply of food and love.”

Despite their rough start, each sibling’s unique personality began to shine. From playful hops to gentle nose bumps, the bunnies slowly revealed the happy, curious nature that had been hidden by fear.

Searching for Loving Homes

Now that they’re thriving, the five siblings are ready for the next step in their journey: foster families.

“Let’s pull together and get these sweethearts into foster care where they can thrive,” The Rabbit Haven urged. “Please help them and show them the love they deserve.”

For rescues like The Rabbit Haven, fostering is a critical step. It not only frees space for other animals in urgent need but also helps young rabbits learn how to live in a safe, loving home environment.

Final Thoughts

Robin, Rhona, Reeses, Roy, and Reayah could have faced a tragic ending in that parking lot. Instead, thanks to the compassion of two Good Samaritans and the dedication of The Rabbit Haven, they now have a second chance at life.

Their story is a reminder that while cruelty exists, kindness is always stronger. All it takes is one moment of compassion — like Ricky and Colette stopping that day — to completely change the course of a life.

And for these five fluffy survivors, that moment has given them the future they deserve. 💕
