Nicole Kidman Officially Files for Divorce from Keith Urban and Requests Primary Custody of Daughters

Divorce Filing

On September 30, 2025, Nicole Kidman officially filed for divorce from Keith Urban, confirming reports that the couple had been separated since earlier this summer. The pair, who married in 2006, have two daughters: Sunday Rose, 17, and Faith Margaret, 14.

Sources tell the BBC that Kidman, 58, has been “holding the family together through this difficult time” following Urban’s move to his own residence in Nashville.

Custody Arrangements

According to court documents obtained by People, Kidman has requested to become the primary residential parent of their daughters.

  • Under the proposed arrangement, Kidman would spend 306 days per year with the girls, while Urban would have 59 days.
  • Urban has reportedly already prepaid all child support obligations.

Additionally, both Kidman and Urban have agreed to:

  • Avoid speaking negatively about each other or family members in public.
  • Encourage their children to maintain love and comfort in both parents’ homes.
  • Attend a parenting seminar within 60 days of the divorce proceedings being filed.

Kidman signed the documents on September 6, with Urban signing a week earlier on August 29.

Background

The couple’s separation has garnered significant media attention, though the precise reasons behind their split remain unclear. Earlier this year, a minor controversy emerged when Urban reportedly ended a radio interview abruptly, though sources later denied that he hung up intentionally.

Looking Ahead

With the divorce proceedings underway and custody arrangements in place, Kidman and Urban appear focused on prioritizing the well-being of their daughters while navigating their separation amicably.
