Mom of Two Moves into Her First Home, But a Strange Discovery Sends Her into a Panic

Amber Hall, a mother of two, had big dreams when she purchased her first home in Centennial, Colorado. After weeks of searching, she believed she had found the perfect four-bedroom, two-bathroom house for her family. Excited about the spacious backyard and great location, Amber imagined her children and two dogs playing in the yard, unaware that her dream home harbored an unexpected and terrifying secret.

A Strange Discovery

Once Amber and her family moved in and began unpacking, things took a startling turn. As Amber was getting settled, one of her dogs began acting strangely. The dog crouched down and moved slowly toward a specific area of the wall. Thinking it might be a spider or something else harmless, Amber went to investigate.

What she discovered left her in shock—there were two small holes in the wall, and as she got closer, she saw snakes slithering up the wall. Panic set in. Amber quickly realized that something was very wrong with her new home. The snakes had made their way into the wall beside the door that led from the garage to the backyard.

Snakes in the Walls

The horror didn’t stop there. As Amber placed her hand higher on the wall, she could feel warmth, a sure sign that there were likely more snakes hidden away in the space. “Shockingly big,” she described the snakes, though after researching, she learned that they might be garter snakes. However, these snakes were unlike any typical garter snakes she had heard of—they were far larger than usual.

Amber’s fear escalated. “I can’t unpack any of my stuff because I’m definitely afraid that there’s snakes in the boxes or under the boxes,” she said. Even simple tasks, like crawling into bed, became a source of anxiety. Every small brush of the sheet against her foot would send her into a panic as she feared another snake might be lurking nearby.

The Growing Infestation

The first snake was discovered just over a week ago. Since then, Amber has found a total of 10 snakes in the house. The situation has made living in the home nearly impossible, as she’s left feeling uneasy and constantly on edge.

To address the terrifying infestation, Amber hired a snake wrangler. The wrangler confirmed that, based on the size of the snakes, some of them may have been living in the walls of the house for the past two years. This means Amber is likely not the first resident to encounter the snakes—though it seems no one was aware of the problem before.

“It’s rough. I’m 42 years old, and this is my first home. I’ve worked my whole life for it, and I can’t enjoy it,” Amber shared. Her frustration is understandable, especially since the house was meant to be a fresh start for her and her family. Unfortunately, she’s unable to relax in her new space due to the ongoing snake problem.

The Cost of Snake Removal

So far, Amber has spent around $1,000 on snake removal services. While the wrangler has been removing the snakes humanely, Amber’s anxiety remains high, and she doesn’t feel safe in her home. She has expressed concern that she won’t feel comfortable until the concrete is ripped up to locate where the snakes are living within the house.

What Can Amber Do?

This situation highlights the risks of unexpected issues when moving into a new home, even one that appears perfect at first glance. While Amber’s experience is certainly unusual, it serves as a cautionary tale for anyone in the process of buying a house. The discovery of hidden dangers like these can not only cause emotional distress but also financial strain, as Amber continues to pay for snake removal services.

Amber’s ongoing battle with the snake infestation is every homeowner’s nightmare. If you were in Amber’s shoes, what would you do next? Should she keep trying to remove the snakes, or should she consider more drastic measures to ensure her family’s safety?
