Jennifer Lawrence Urged to Change Baby’s Name as It’s ‘Just a Noise’

Jennifer Lawrence has found herself the target of trolling on social media over the name she and her husband, Cooke Maroney, chose for their baby. The couple welcomed their first child in 2022, and when the name was revealed, it sparked mixed reactions.

Some social media users questioned the simplicity of the name, with one commenter asking if it was short for something and others claiming it “sounds more like a noise than a name.” A third user expressed concern that the name might lead to future bullying for the child.

However, many of Lawrence’s fans came to her defense, with some calling the name “simple, classy, and meaningful,” and others praising it for being personal and art-inspired.

In a Vogue cover interview, Lawrence opened up about motherhood, describing the overwhelming love she feels for her son. “The euphoria is just – Jesus, it’s impossible,” she shared. “My heart has stretched to a capacity that I didn’t know about. I include my husband in that.”

She also talked about the transformative experience of giving birth, saying, “The morning after I gave birth, I felt like my whole life had started over. Like, ‘Now is day one of my life.’”

While she has been candid about her experience, Lawrence emphasized her desire to protect her son’s privacy. In a previous interview with Vanity Fair, she said, “Every instinct in my body wants to protect their privacy for the rest of their lives.”

The name “Cy” that Lawrence and Maroney chose for their son holds personal significance for them. It was inspired by Cy Twombly, a renowned American painter whose work aligns with Maroney’s artistic taste.

Lawrence and Maroney recently welcomed their second child in early 2025, although the name has not yet been revealed.
