Plus-size influencer says airlines should accommodate people like her

Plus-size influencer Emily Jones has sparked a conversation about how airlines and hotels can do more to accommodate curvier passengers. According to Jones, who frequently travels between Malta, the UK, and Finland, the travel industry has a long way to go in ensuring the comfort of larger travelers.

Jones, known for her Instagram account @miss__jones, uses her platform to encourage plus-size individuals to embrace travel and explore the world. She believes everyone, regardless of body size, deserves to experience travel without anxiety or discomfort.

One of the changes she advocates for is extending seatbelts on airplanes. Jones notes that many plus-size travelers feel the anxiety of fitting into seats, and by making seatbelts longer and more accommodating, airlines could create a more inclusive and comfortable environment. She also calls for more spacious seating options, as well as additional cushioning and adjustable armrests, to cater to larger individuals.

When it comes to accommodations, Jones also hopes to see hotels offer larger towels and bathrobes, recognizing that these simple adjustments can make plus-size guests feel more welcome and comfortable during their stay.

Despite the challenges, Jones is optimistic about the future. She points out that many hotels are starting to make changes to accommodate larger guests, noting the Seychelles in Africa as one example of a destination that offers a warm and inclusive environment for plus-size tourists.

Jones’ efforts are pushing for a shift in how the travel industry caters to a diverse range of body sizes, and her hope is that more changes will continue to be made for the comfort and inclusion of everyone.
