Juror on A$AP Rocky trial claims rapper was found not guilty for surprising reason

A$AP Rocky was found not guilty of felony shooting last night (February 19), and one of the jurors has talked about why she thought that.

During an event in November 2021, Rocky, whose real name is Rakim Mayers, was told by a judge that he could spend anywhere from 10 to 24 years in prison.

The “Sundress” artist was caught in April 2022 and charged with two counts of assault with a semiautomatic firearm in connection with a shooting.

In that case, Mayers was accused of hitting his ex-friend A$AP Relli, whose real name is Terell Ephron.

If Mayers had taken the plea deal that was offered to him, he would have gone to jail for six months and been on probation for the rest of his life for admitting to one of the charges. In the end, he won.

The rapper jumped into the seats behind him in court to celebrate with his family and friends after the decision.

The singer went on social media after the verdict to say, “The glory belongs to God and to God alone.”

“Thankful, humbled by His mercy.”

One of the jurors has made a bold claim about why she thinks the “Everyday” artist was found not guilty, just one day after Mayers got good news.

She told TMZ that a crime might have been done but that “unfortunately they didn’t have enough evidence to convict on the charges that were brought against us.”

There were seven women and five men on the jury, and this juror said that some of them thought the supposed prop gun was real.

She also said she found it “mysterious” that it was gone and couldn’t be used as proof.

Mayers’ lawyer, Joe Tacopina, was sure that it was a fake gun that the rapper’s friend said he did carry around.

One of the jurors also said she didn’t think that Rihanna or the couple’s two sons had any effect on their decision.

In the end, she said that they were all focused on doing what was right and had listened to the court’s directions before coming to a decision of “not guilty.”

TMZ asked Tacopina about these claims, and he said, “The system obviously worked.”

“While this is only one juror, she focused on the lack of evidence and reasonable doubt, which is also where our defence focused.”

“She also mentioned that the jury’s first vote was immediately 10 for not guilty, which is why they took only three hours!”

The lawyer also said that he talked to three different jurors who all said the choice wasn’t close and that they thought Mayers had a fake gun.
