Miley Cyrus Fans React to Demi Lovato’s ‘Copy Cat’ Wedding Dress

Demi Lovato and Miley Cyrus, both former Disney stars, have maintained a long-standing presence in the pop culture spotlight. Now, with their Disney days behind them, it seems that their paths continue to cross in the most unexpected ways.

Demi Lovato recently tied the knot with musician Jordan Lutes in an intimate ceremony at the Bellosguardo Foundation in Santa Barbara, California. For her big day, the singer opted for a Vivienne Westwood gown that caused quite a stir, as it closely resembled the wedding dress Miley Cyrus wore to her 2018 wedding to Liam Hemsworth.

After Lovato’s wedding, Miley Cyrus’ fans quickly took to social media, sparking a debate over the similarities between the two dresses. Some fans of Miley pointed out the resemblance and joked about the “copycat” moment. One social media user even edited an image of the two women in their bridal gowns side by side, with a cheeky caption: “Twinsies! I hope your marriage goes better than mine!” This reference, of course, was to Miley’s short-lived marriage to Liam Hemsworth, which ended less than a year after it began.

As the debate escalated online, people continued to compare the two dresses, often pointing out how the two brides looked strikingly similar. Lovato’s wedding dress was a beautiful off-the-shoulder silk satin gown, featuring Vivienne Westwood’s iconic corseted bodice and a draped skirt. While Miley’s dress, also by Vivienne Westwood, was made-to-order and retailed for $8,600 in 2018, both dresses had a similar silhouette and corset-inspired design, giving fans a lot to talk about.

However, some fans were growing tired of the constant comparisons and made it clear that both stars deserved to enjoy their special day without being pitted against each other. One comment read, “They are both grown women, and we are not little girls arguing in middle school. We don’t care if Miley wore the dress first. They look stunning.”

The conversation became so widespread that even well-known publications like Cosmopolitan felt the need to step in. The magazine clarified that while the dresses were similar in style, they were not identical. Miley Cyrus’ gown was a ready-to-wear design by Vivienne Westwood, whereas Lovato’s dress was custom-made with elements uniquely tailored to the singer’s preferences over the course of five fittings. Lovato, speaking about her choice, said, “I often found myself coming back to Vivienne’s designs—specifically how the silhouettes really complement the curves of your body and her use of corsets.”

Demi Lovato, who has been dating Jordan Lutes since 2022, shared that the custom gown had special personal touches that made it unique to her. The couple, who met while working on Lovato’s album Holy Fvck, confirmed their relationship in August 2022 and got engaged in December 2023.

The attention on both singers’ wedding dresses highlights the public fascination with celebrity weddings and the way their personal lives continue to captivate audiences. While the debate over the dresses sparked mixed reactions, the focus remains on celebrating their special moments and the love they’ve found.
