There’s been more going on between Blue Dozer, the soft pit bull, and his friend OJ, the 12-year-old dachshund, for the past four years or so. The senior dog was old and blind, but he trusted his friend to show him the way.

Not long ago, Blue Dozer showed that he will always be there for his friend. The owner of the couple lost her house and fell on the street, which was sad. She gave her dogs to a shelter in Richmond because she couldn’t take care of them. She hoped they would find a good home. That being said, she begged the staff to keep them together.

“They lived in her car for a while, and she’s been busy with other things lately,” Christie Chipps Peters, Director of Animal Welfare and Control in Richmond, told The Dodo. “She wished they could find a new home together!”

As soon as Christie and the other helpers found out why the dogs had to stay together, they stopped. Due to being completely blind, the older dachshund’s 6-year-old pittie friend was both useful and able to see. All of them were also amazed at how kind and loving Blue was to his helpless friend. Everyone knew that these two cute dogs would quickly catch someone’s attention.

Peters said, “We don’t see a combination like this very often.” “That’s so cute and funny.” Blue is like a tough, strong guy, and OJ is like a little dachshund in his teens. It’s really lovely to see them together. They know how to love each other because they’ve been best friends for a long time. It looked like OJ was a small version of Blue when we went outside.

Two days after the couple arrived at the lodge, someone offered to adopt them, which made everyone happy. Things were getting better for the two dogs. They had to agree to adopt each other. Okay, that was said and done. But then something terrible happened. He found OJ who was hurt by the side of the road a few days after the dogs had moved into their new home. Most likely, his new owners have thrown him away!

Thank goodness, some kind people helped the unbreakable couple get back together at the camp, and this time they won’t be split up! Their play isn’t over yet, but one thing is for sure: Blue and OJ are very close friends.

In a statement, the shelter said, “We appreciate the outpouring of community support.” “In the end, all that matters is that these sweet dogs get to be together. For the next few days, we’ll do nothing but cuddle them next to each other.”
